Skyler is a daydreamer, with a desire to bring fantasy worlds to life.

As a child, Skyler lived within imagined worlds, filling sketchbooks with horses racing across the pages, adorned in nature and ridden by fantasy creatures like fairies and mermaids. Long before ever picking up a needle, those early illustrations were already fashion design in disguise; taking great care in designing every character’s outfit, even detailing mermaid tails and hairstyles to deepen their visual story.

Pursuing a degree in Illustration felt like a natural progression. Skyler greatly enjoyed evolving their skills in classes that offered challenges to their prospective and skillset. However, a single sewing elective altered their trajectory. They were captivated by the tactile language of fabric and the mathematical precision of pattern drafting where flat shapes fit together like a perfect, three-dimensional puzzle. It felt like magic. With these two loves, they attempted to double major in Illustration and Fashion & Textiles. When senior year logistics made dual degrees impossible, they forged their own path, collaborating closely with professors across both disciplines. Visual narrative and textile design remain forever intertwined.

After mastering pattern drafting, grading, professional garment finishing, and traditional millinery techniques, (Learning and making hats was especially exciting.) Skyler graduated with a BFA in Textiles and Fashion. Then in 2018, established a Bespoke studio dedicated to bringing drawn characters from Anime into tactile reality.

Something they noticed to be very common in animation is that character designs are simplified. This is usually due to the nature of animation. Animating billions of sparkling sequins or detailed appliques isn’t realistic. Skyler wanted more. Where animation left off, they saw thousands of glittering sequins, floating lace, fabric texture and patter, different seam lines, functional pockets, rich texture and details waiting to be brought to life, whether in shimmering extravagance or realistic grit.

Those explorations in form the cornerstone of Skyler’s atelier today, and how they visualize garments and create now. Renowned for breathing extraordinary texture and realism into 2D concepts, their signature approach is epitomized by an ongoing series of bespoke Howl’s Moving Castle coats, where no two editions are ever identical. In 2023 their work expanded into original custom designs, collaborating directly with clients to translate written and spoken visions into one-of-a-kind garments for special events and weddings.

At the heart of Skyler's practice is an unwavering commitment to high-level craftsmanship—elevating fantasy through hand-beading, ornate lace overlays, and custom digitized embroidery to tell stories through the medium of cloth. Above all, it is driven by imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong dream to be the characters from their early drawings, racing on horseback through the woods in a magical outfit, and they want that feeling for every one of their clients as well.
